JACK G. BRUNER, M.D.
Dr. Bruner, an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, has been practicing plastic surgery in Sacramento for more than 30 years and currently performs only cosmetic surgery. He attended medical school at the California College of Medicine, Los Angeles County Hospital. After training in general surgery at Fresno General Hospital, Dr. Bruner trained in plastic surgery at Downstate Medical Center in New York City. He received substantial training in cosmetic surgery with his professor, at numerous hospitals on Long Island. Finally, Dr. Bruner finished training in plastic surgery at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo Ohio. Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Bruner decided to live and practice in Sacramento and has been very active in the community, the state and the nation, serving in a wide variety of charitable and leadership positions. president of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons and has served as an officer for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Bruner served on the state Medical Board of California and the state Breast and Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Council. He was a founding member of the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and served as its president for five years. During his presidency, he was in charge of the first “Race for the Cure” that has grown to be the most attended and successful fund raiser for breast cancer in the Sacramento Valley. For many years, when Dr. Bruner is not performing surgery, he is often found at the state capitol building working as a patient advocate, supporting health care legislation that effect mostly women and children. There was a time when he made many trips to Washington D.C., advocating the same health care issues.
Dr. Bruner decided to become a surgeon while serving as a young soldier in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War. After working his way through college, medical school and surgical training, he met and married a Swedish girl, Anne-marie Hjort.
The Bruner’s enjoy two grown children, a son and a daughter, and two grandchildren. One of the major family activities of the entire Bruner family is skiing. The children grew up ski racing in many areas of California and were very successful ski racers in college. Dr. Bruner served as a physician on the U.S. Olympic Ski Team for eight years and as a National Ski Patrolman for over twenty years. Currently, he is the director of the Doctor Ski Patrol at Alpine Meadows. Dr. Bruner’s wife, Anne-marie, has been a professional ski instructor for over twenty years, speaks four languages, and has been listed by Skiing Magazine as one of the top 100 ski instructors in America. |
